The cliche about Lake District Weather, especially around Ullswater, is always that “if you can see the fell opposite then it’s about to rain. If you can’t then it is raining”. Well having lived in Patterdale for 8 years now we can certainly vouch that we get a fair amount of rain fall but also our fair share of glorious sunshine. The great thing about being in the Lakes is you get “proper” weather - rarely is it it just plain dull. So whatever your preferences and whatever time of year you’re thinking of visiting then chances are you’ll get a good spectrum of conditions - and yes almost certainly some rain as well!
